FARR Training Academy
Who The dedicated FARR Training Academy was established in 2008, funded by
ARA (Industry Association for Responsible for Responsible Alcohol use). During
2009 the administration continued to be funded by ARA (Industry Association for
Responsible for Responsible Alcohol use). The Academy offers SAQA-aligned
comprehensive training workshops and programmes focusing on Substance Abuse and
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). The FARR Training Academy is has been granted
full accreditation with the Health and Welfare SETA since 2010. The Professional
training course is registered and is accredited with Continued Professional
Development (CPD) points with the Health Professions Council for South Africa
and the South African Council for Social Service Professions. All professionals
receive CPD points after completing a training course with FARR Training
Academy.

Training Academy offers courses to a variety of stakeholders including: o
General public
(parents/caregivers, home-based carers) o
Undergraduate students o
School teachers, social workers, therapists, nurses and
doctors at primary care level o
Specialised professionals – teachers for children
with special needs o
Medical specialists

The ideal duration for each workshop is reflected. The
duration can however be adapted to suit the needs of the client. In addition: We offer information sessions and presentations according to

Since August 2008, FARR
Training Academy has trained a total of 616 learners from various sectors such
as Department of Health, Department of Social Development and various other
NGO’s and organisations. Training conducted in 2009, included educators, social workers, social auxiliary workers, nurses, therapists, health promoters and volunteers. 2010 focused on health promoters and educators requiring special skills to deal with FASD affected learners. Various presentations on FASD have been conducted to various sectors such as government sector, NGO’s, Faith-based organizations and the private sector.
